Q: What is the dress code?
A: We ask that you wear what you might to school. The Museum can be very cold so you may want to pack a sweater or jacket. We will also be spending a lot of time in the Exhibit so you should wear comfortable shoes. There will be a reception on the second night of both sessions. Save your nicest outfit for the second day.
Q: Is there a conference hotel?
A: No. There is no conference hotel and we do not recommend hotels. Click here for tips on lodging.
Q: Is there parking at the Museum?
A: No. There is no parking at the Museum. There is paid parking near the Museum, but we recommend you use public transportation. Click here for info on the Metro.
Q: What time does the conference start/end?
A: The ELA conference begins at 8:00 AM each day. The SSH conference begins at 9:00 AM on the first day and 8:00 AM subsequent days. Check out the agenda page for the schedule at-a-glance.
Q: Which entrance do we use each day?
A: There are two entrances to the Museum. You will enter through the 15th Street entrance each day. The 15th Street entrance faces the Tidal Basin. You will see two sculptures on the 15th Street side.
Q: I’m leaving immediately after the conference from the Museum on the last day. What can I do with my luggage?
A: Bring your luggage to the Museum on the last day. We will store your luggage on the last day of the conference.
Q: I’m leaving from the Museum on the last day of the conference, but I would like to spend more time in the bookstore or exhibitions. What can I do with my luggage?
A: You’ll be able to leave your luggage with coat/bag check.
Q: I hear we’re getting a gift card to the Museum’s gift shop. When do I get to use it?
A: You’ll get your gift card on the second day of the conference. The Museum shop will be open during the reception. You can also use your gift card after the conference ends on the last day. We ask that you do not skip sessions to use your gift card.
Q: Do I get a certificate for completing Belfer?
A: Yes. You will receive a certificate with hours on the final day of the conference.
